Enter into breathing time
Stuff may rise and fall.
It’s not our place to make it stop
Nor can we have it all.
It may not make a lot of sense.
You may wonder why.
Sparkle while you have the chance.
Decades wander by.
Written for dVerse Quadrille #19 hosted by WhimsyGizmo with the prompt “spark”.
What a fantastic ending:
“Sparkle while you have the chance.
Decades wander by.”

I’m totally with Shawna, sparkle while you have the chance… and what a wonderful mini-ballad.

What a marvelous reflection on life, Frank–this is one of those poems I wish I had written.

Yes, of course we must ~ Time is too short and fleeting ~

Wonderful advice and this quadrille is very pleasing to read aloud.

Nice use of our short, but often furtive, dance away from birth to the other end of the spectrum, where something akin to oblivion, rebirth, or transition awaits us–the last dance partner. “I would rather burn out rather than fade away,” as the song says.

I really like this poem and it’s message. The rhyming pattern really made the poem flow smoothly.

‘Sparkle while you have the chance’ is a beautiful mantra.

I had not thought of it as a mantra, but I think it would work as one, something to routinely say to oneself. Thanks!

Yes, even witches and warlocks have sympathy for those long lost from love. It’s a good reason to have empathy for them.
