I’ve breathed enough to know I’m here.
I wonder why that’s so?
There is no need I might concede.
Contentedly I go.
I wonder why we stir at all
And build entangled dreams
Inhaling air refreshed with care.
Light thrills us as it beams.
Written for dVerse Quadrille # 21 “Take a Breath”.
I love the upbeat pondering of this. Very nice take on the prompt.

The first line lured me in right away…and I enjoyed the smooth rhyme.

I suspect rhyme is supposed to lure one, make one read one more stanza just for the sound. The same would go with a melodic flow of free verse. Thanks for the comment.

It was actually the content of the line itself that drew me in…”I’ve breathed enough to know I’m here.” It could stand alone. I agree with your comments above about rhyme and free verse. 🙂

Why must one be called upon to rise and react only to get clobbered by wild antics of others. All the more reason one must be assured of good plans ahead!

Our dreams do entangle themselves with the wild antics of others sometimes pleasantly and sometimes not so pleasantly.

A lovely poem – and how clever of you (as Victoria said too) to write a quadrille with rhyme and metre!

The 44 word limit somewhat cramps the common meter in these stanzas, but being forced to cut out four words or so may actually be a good thing. Thanks for the comment!

Love the opening line. Almost a statement of “I breathe, therefore I am. “

I was thinking along those lines as well. Just breathing gives us awareness we sometimes forget we have. Thanks!
