Breathing Through Another Day

I’ve breathed enough to know I’m here.
I wonder why that’s so?
There is no need I might concede.
Contentedly I go.

I wonder why we stir at all
And build entangled dreams
Inhaling air refreshed with care.
Light thrills us as it beams.

    1. I suspect rhyme is supposed to lure one, make one read one more stanza just for the sound. The same would go with a melodic flow of free verse. Thanks for the comment.

      1. It was actually the content of the line itself that drew me in…”I’ve breathed enough to know I’m here.” It could stand alone. I agree with your comments above about rhyme and free verse. 🙂

    1. The 44 word limit somewhat cramps the common meter in these stanzas, but being forced to cut out four words or so may actually be a good thing. Thanks for the comment!
