Non-Random Fibonacci Curl

The pattern curled as it grew
Much like a fractal form.
We suffered and with joy came through
Sunshine or a storm

In every wave we rode upon,
We chose. We gave and took.
The pattern curled us along
And sometimes we could look.

    1. Thanks! I wasn’t sure Fibonacci applied but then I remembered the picture of a helical pattern that seemed to be “curling” that was supposedly based on the ratio of consecutive integers in the Fibonacci sequence.

    1. I am fascinated by fractals also although I don’t know the underlying math. That one could have similarity of pattern at different levels is intriguing.

  1. To me, this reads like a very modern retelling of “The Wheel of Time” series by Robert Jordan. It is one of my favourite series ever, so I enjoyed the poem a lot!

      1. Pardon me if I am boring, the synergy of your poem and the entire book series is astounding to me. There is a lot of books in the series, and Jordan died before he could finish it, hence his son wrote the very last book.
What is so special is that your poem feels fitting for both the start of the series and the end.

      2. Your comments aren’t boring. If someone likes something enough to reference it, there is something there worth looking at. I am not at home at the moment, but I do plan to look up Jordan’s work. I will post something to your blog or posts with what I come up with when I do. It does sound interesting.

I see human nature evolving in a spiral rather than in random cycles which is where the Fibonacci and non-random fractal ideas come from. Much of this I get from Elliott Wave Theory and Robert Prechter’s books. However, I don’t understand the math underlying fractals, but I think it is something I should be able to understand if I put my mind to it.
