Quietly awaiting word
Of what I need to do.
I hope I’ll figure out it when
Some whisper does come through.
I hope that something does come through
So I won’t feel alone
But even if some nothing comes,
This silence I’ll still own.
Written for dVerse Quadrille #24 with prompt “whisper” hosted by De Jackson (WhimsyGizmo).
nicely done with the rhyme…love the hope for a word, but the contentedness to have the silence as well.

Thank you. One doesn’t always get what one hopes for, but maybe that is for the best.

I love the last line… to at lease own the silence (maybe that’s even the best of things)

Yes, I think owning the silence that we experience is the best. Thanks!

“This silence still I’ll own” — LOVE this. Sometimes that’s the thing, isn’t it? Becoming comfortable, content, even in the silent places.

Thanks! One doesn’t always get any answers that one understands in time, but the silence is there.

I love your last line especially ‘This silence I’ll still own’ where you take ownership of the creation of your own bliss :o)

This made me think of waiting for whispers in the wind. Finding peace in silence is not an easy task. 🙂

I agree. Sometimes the expected whispers don’t come or make sense. All one has is silence. It is not easy. Thanks!

There is a tension in this piece that is delightful…set against the silence it creates something palpable for me…like waiting for the doctor to tell you what the x ray shows.

I had not thought of it in terms of getting x ray results, but that seems to work as well. Thanks!

It could be waiting for any kind of unknown news I suppose but that’s what popped up for me.

There’s a nice parallel structure and repetition to this one (could almost fit into today’s repetition prompt).

Yes, there is a repetition of line 4 in line 5 with a slight modification that introduces the second stanza. I was going to enter yesterday’s repetition prompt, but I have been travelling and and could not fit in a post.

There is something very empowering about owning the silence even if/when it’s not filled with the answers!

I think it is powerful. By owning the silence we experience it subjectively. It might even be more powerful than any communication we might get. Thanks!

Not only hopeful but quietly positive. And yes, as Bryan says, nicely rhymed.
