The Sun descends and so do I
Dive toward dark waters deep.
It seems I only need to try
Once more before I sleep.
Otherwise I won’t want rest
To mark this day as done.
I want to claim I passed that test
No matter what I’ve won.
Linked to Saturday’s Image Write #3.
Its the day of satisfaction, no matter what won! Beautifully written.. 🙂

You sure satisfied me. I so enjoy your rhyming, Frank, most of the poets I run into want to write free verse only and they don’t know what they’re missing. Your work is flawless and the meter perfect. I keep thanking you but thank you for writing! I left a comment for you on SIW. Hugs!

Thanks, Bekkie! I am glad you liked it. I don’t know how to write free verse. When I try, mine turns into prose poetry and so I might as well take out the line breaks and call it flash fiction or a philosophical essay. However, I have read free verse that was very moving. In particular, just to mention a well-known poet, I think Mary Oliver’s free verse is very nice.

You know, when I write a poem it’s natural for me to rhyme. Lol! My roommate used to say I should get a job with a greeting card company. Lol! Just getting to know you, but didn’t know you don’t write free verse. I will have to check out Mary Oliver. My favorite thing is alliteration, I find them challenging to write.

I like alliteration as well. It has a lot of the beneficial sound effects of rhyme, but it isn’t as obvious. Starting one’s own greeting card company may be even better than working for a greeting card company.
