The Fool Card

I trust when the monsters appear
They’ll be friendly and want to calm fear
And I trust that I, too,
On this trail I move through
Will not frighten the ones who come near.

  12. I liked how the poem made me think outside the box to see monsters in a new light.

    In a way, it reminded me of Joseph Campbell’s observation that “the gods you deny become demons.” The monsters you do not befriend become fearsome? Seems to be something to that.

  19. Awesome job, Frank! I adored your Limerick! I just hope I can do as well. I had no idea the Toads had the same prompt until Sunday (today.) I went biking yesterday (a perfect day) I went 30 miles and want to bike again today so I best get going.

    1. Thanks, Bekkie! I found out that the Toads prompt was the same just after posting and so updated it with a link. I guess April Fools and the Fool Card are a natural fit. Thanks for the prompt!

  21. I love what the speaker tells us about the subject, about himself, and about the nature of monsters–each of us can be someone else’s boogeyman, under the right (or wrong) circumstances. One can only hope for the best when the time comes.
