Yellows aim so all can see.
Wind flips them about.
Greens believe they cannot fail.
They motivate no doubt.
Purples, whites and reds proclaim:
“Sail your colors high!”
Green below greets blue above
To praise fresh evening sky.

Love those bright Black-eyed Susans, Frank. Nice verb flexing in:
‘Yellows aim so all can see.
Wind flips them about’
and
‘Purples, whites and reds proclaim:
“Sail your colors high!”’

That is a good way of looking at them. I had not heard that before. Thanks!

Excellent poem Frank! I love the lines in this such as the entire first stanza. You did a super job flexing your buff verb muscles.

Thanks, Toni! I put in as many verbs as I could think of.

At first I thought you wrote another Minute Poem, but this one has more brevity & verbal muscle. Nice working with the verbs, & your images are lovely.

The minute form has the same iambic meter that this common meter poem has, but with a different rhyme pattern. I was hoping the verbs were strong enough for the challenge. Thanks, Glenn!

The image was superfluous, the words said it all.

This is lovely. There’s a bit of Emily Dickinson floating around it. I think you might have been pollinated by the same bee.

Thank you, Sarah! It is a similar common meter that she used. I am glad it reminded you of her.

Thank you, Laura! To fulfill the prompt I aimed for the unexpected, not sure what that would be.

Thanks, Lynn! The flowers are better in real life, but the photos give some idea of what is there. I’m glad you liked the verb usage.
