Lady loved the plants’ light green
With flowers brightly red.
Her face angelically serene
Had leaves to shade her head.
Linked to dVerse Open Link Night hosted by Grace.
Linked to Jilly’s Casting Bricks August Challenge as the first part of a cooperative poem for whomever might wish to continue it.

Her face is so serene indeed Frank ~ Thanks for sharing ~

I love the play of the complementary colours green and red in the rhythm of this verse :o)

Thank you, Xenia! I like describing things in terms of simple colors. I didn’t realize they were complementary until you mentioned it, but they are.

Flawless, this one. Shame it’s so short. Could you make a ballad with it?
It’s great you got ‘angelically’ to fit so well into it.

Thanks, Ronnie! I may expand it later. I also put it on Jilly’s August Challenge for others to expand if they want. I didn’t want to make it too long for that reason. I am glad you liked it.

How strange! We have one of those, a ‘lady’ wreathed in leaves.

I think it is a common pottery theme. We got this decades ago and I can’t remember from where anymore. Thanks, Jane!

Hallo so how about this for the second stanza
She sat upon the mantlepiece
Amidst the Christmas cheer
Overshadowed by the nativity
And the radiant poinsettia.

Very nice, Alison! Although I was not thinking of Christmas when I wrote it (being August), now that you mention it, it does go well with Christmas and a poinsettia would have the right colors.

Aha! A second Challenge – hooray! Looking at this I can see how carefully placed punctuation could alter the meaning; I like that. The symbolism of color is an essential element in literature for me, so your poem has great depth. Well done! As always, your photos are fabulous!

Thanks, Jilly! I figure if I make the poem short enough it can easily have a second part and still work as a single poem. I am glad you liked it!

There could be a ballad here with the Lady as a main character. Thanks, Alwi!

How nice it is Frank. 1) it is a beauty to be appreciated 2) it can accord the expected support. Any event or matter with these two elements is perfect!

Thanks, Hank! The pottery is rather beautiful although simple in its own way and it does hold a small plant.

All that remains is ‘blue’. But I will restrain myself from adding that colour. It’s an introduction of the main character, now someone has to complete the story, I guess..

One could continue it using colors. I am not sure how I would continue it, but it is offered as the start of a poem that needs a finish although it could stand alone as it is. Thank you!

I went with the symbolism of the colors and it turned a bit dark.
