My Heart Stays With My Dreams

My Heart Is Where My Dreams Are

At times I cannot find my dreams
Or fear what they might be:
Hidden habits I don’t want
With burdens blinding me?

With them my heart stays anyway.
My mind’s not far behind
Though searching for some better dreams
If better I might find.

    1. It is a nice spacious place to work. And I made it myself out of a piece of plywood and white paint with a handsaw. No nails. I did need a pattern, but that has been lost over the decades. Thanks, Jane!

    1. Yes, it is my desk. I have been using it for over 30 years. I see my dreams as ways to get me off my butt and change bad habits, some I don’t even know I have. Thanks for the comment!

    1. I do need to clean my desk every now and then. De-cluttering is one of my dreams which I could realize easily if my habits were different. Thanks, Grace!

  1. Somehow, we poets with cameras, pursue & often capture dreams–in nature, alleys, ashes, & meadows. Gosh, what a big monitor you have, pard.

    1. My old monitor broke two years ago and I was using what was on the laptop, but then there was a sale at Costco for an older version of these LG long monitors. Thanks, Glenn!

  2. Ooooops….Where did my comment go? ‘With them my heart stays anyway. My mind’s not far behind’….The best space to be in. This is peaceful and restful & better than beyond reach dreams. Love the rhythm.

    1. For some reason your comments were in my spam folder. I have had that happen with a few people. There was nothing in the comment that should have put it into spam.

    1. I agree. We need to be optimistic rather than pessimistic to remain healthy even though we can make mistakes with optimism. Some dreams, more like nightmares of vindictiveness, are not healthy like some habits. They are sometimes hard to see. Thanks, Ben!

  3. Wow… time and time again I write about when I felt “dead”… whether it was dead in my relationship… or in a dead friendship… usually that feeling is there for me because my dreams were ignored.. my heart couldn’t thrive there… I had to literally abruptly abandon those things that “killed” me…

This piece… it describes what I felt… my heart is back… and I dream… no longer do I stay awake at night to run from the nightmare that was my actual life… thank you Frank… you are a PHENOMENAL writer… so glad I found you!!

    1. Daydreams are more controllable, but we have to pay attention to even know we are daydreaming. I keep forgetting my night dreams but not always. Thanks, Lillian!

  4. Always love when you integrate your photography and poetry, Frank. Dreams don’t need to be better if our heart still believes in them. My dreams have changed through time. Each day I try to follow the dream of walking the path of artistic creativity that I left behind years ago. Loved seeing your creating space. ❤ Mine is quite tiny, but works.

    1. My space is large because the pattern called for a piece of plywood, four feet by eight feet and so the desk is eight feet long. One doesn’t need that much space, but I have grown used to it. I am glad you liked how the poetry and photos come together, Olga! Thank you!
