It’s entertaining arguing with people as long as you don’t expect to win.

Funny, Frank. I never expect to win an argument, but that doesn’t mean it’s always my goal! 😉

Deep inside I don’t really want to win an argument. If I do, then I’ve convinced someone else that I’m right and then I don’t have anyone to argue with anymore.

I’ve never liked arguing and would rather avoid it. But this opens up a new perspective to explore. I’m thinking a little detachment, a sense of humor and experimentation… it could be interesting.

Arguing can be fun. Most people I know love political arguments. There is almost no way to win these where “winning” means convincing the other person of one’s point of view. These are the kinds I avoid, when I can, which is not easy to do with guests at dinner. So I guess it depends on the topic.

I do not agree! Where is your reason? What is the point then? You are so wrong. NO answers!!!! OK then you win this one! Glad this argument is over….
I’m FINE,
Denny
LOL but a little one sided for my liking….

🙂 I only hope I don’t lose the argument to myself.

Haha! Indeed. Expectations are always bound to lead to disappointment.

And if I do win, I have no one to argue with. Thanks, Linda! And thanks for setting up the One-Liner Wednesday prompt.

Ah, but of course we like to win, Frank. I have been know to argue both points of view on a subject and win both conversations [wicked smile].

Wanting to win is probably all for the good. If we aren’t motivated to get true results and win the argument, we wouldn’t reach true conclusions at all. Good point! Thanks, Robbie!

Sometimes I think the best use of argument is getting unexpected feedback that helps clarify one’s own position not actually convincing the other person. Thank you!

I like throwing random topics into the conversation while other people are in the midst of a friendly argument about something.

and truly
this sTiLL

people argue
as that simply
stimulates their mind/body

the body feels and senses what’s real..

Arguing does stimulate the mind/body. I’m all in favor of it. I just don’t really want (deep down inside) to convince anyone–besides it is usually futile. I think you expressed well the consequences of convincing someone: “if i could have then convinced
them of the idiocy of their beliefs i would have had
nothing in any pleasure way left to take my mind off the
numb and pain..” Thanks, Fred!
