Noisy Halloween

Pumpkin Pile

Ghosts should not wear noisy shoes.
Creak. There goes my floor.
Slippers are what I would use.
Bang: The basement door.
I tell them, “Don’t you realize?
You’re noisy. Don’t come in.”
We stand and stare with scary eyes.
They bang the door again.

  1. I adore your image of the gaggle of gourds, and the fun you had with the prompt. Our house is “haunted”, but the interlopers seem transient; no repeat guests–and they’re always silent. We conclude there are portals here that could be inter dimensional

    1. It would creep me out as well. Luckily, I’ve oiled all the hinges and the floors don’t creak much. All I would get is a banging door–which is freaky enough. Thanks, Grace!

    1. The only ghost I ever saw, my aunt when she died, wasn’t scary. She was very quiet except for her words going through my mind. But those ghosts I see in movies are something else. I have to keep my hand over my eyes when the music suggests that something will pop out of the basement. That’s why I mainly watch comedies like Ghostbusters. Thank, Mary!

  2. Love this playful poem Frank…slippers are a must! And the photo is interesting. I’ve never seen a ‘pumpkin pile’ like that … filled with all my favourite squashes.
