Gratitude — Sun Salutation

Sun Salutation

Even seagulls understand,
Salute the brightening Sun.
They pause with eyes that watch it rise,
Give praise, for day’s begun.

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. You are lucky to live near that water! I have a little creek that I live by.
I love photographing my creek in different seasons.
Gratitude is a good theme. 🙂

(I hope to be visiting the Ranch sometime today – but I have a little visitor for a good part of the afternoon.)

      1. I visited Port Washington (we stayed more or less right on the lake!) and got to visit Lake Michigan earlier this year. I have some pieces of pottery, beach glass and even a photo with seagulls too!

  2. This is beautiful Frank and I love how you use seagulls as it’s kind of ironic. In comparison to the suns light and most birds, seagulls are annoying scavengers. But this creates such a wonderful contrasting poetic image as even they are in a sense enthralled by the light of the sun and see its beauty.

    1. The phrase “for day’s begun” was intended to mean “for the day has begun”. It seems like this would work in my Indiana rural way of speaking, but I can see how this might cause confusion. Thanks for bringing up the possible misunderstanding. I may need to modify it.
