What’s real does not bounce particles
Nor swim with random waves.
Its surface swings an open door,
Predictably behaves.
The real’s beyond the object.
Love lifts it, lets us see,
Sustaining every now we know
While veiled majestically.

The real and beautiful can sometimes be found underneath: While veiled majestically. Love your photo too Frank ~

I think this is one of my favourites of your poems Frank -the rhythm and rhyme a marvellous match for the philosophical undertow

What is real? It is a question often asked. Especially now.

It is hard to say what it is. We often confuse it with what we see in front of us. Thank you, Annell!

Wonderful poem Frank. Your hook got me on the first line. I wanted to say no no he got that backwards! Then I read the rest. Great work.

I like “sustaining every now we know”. I feel like this is a meditation on the spirit.

Sustaining is something we forget. What keeps reality before us? Thank you, Amaya!

So philosophical, Frank. I have read this multiple times, some out loud, and it is beautifully baffling and somehow calming to the soul. One of your best.

Somehow the you really manage to answer the question without asking. This has the beauty of a mathematical problem

The facade of science versus the intangibility of love; amazing.
The form looks like something I could try.
ABAB/ CDCD with syllable counts of 8/6/8/6 Yes?

Yes, it is a kind of common meter. I like how it sounds. It is worth trying if you haven’t written something like that before. Thank you!

This flows so smoothly and the truth that underlies it is “real.” We are too easily victims of self deceit. I saw in comments that you are a math-person and I suspect that your great ability with form lies in that.

It may well be the math that makes me like metrical poetry and very short, to-the-point prose. I’ve wondered about that in the past. Thank you, Victoria!

I love the sentiment expressed here, that what’s real and true is often below the surface. Lovely poem, Frank.
