My groove today looks like a rut
Exposed in all that bright sunshine.
I’d change those rutty by-ways, but
Those grooves won’t leave. They say they’re mine.

Smiling I am. Perhaps your ruts are happy ones….grooves we put ourselves into that make us happy. I think that can definitely be okay 🙂

They are rather happy ruts. 🙂 That might be why they don’t want to leave. Thanks, Lillian!

Sometimes I feel like a record stuck repeating the same groove… sometimes we just have to jump out of the groove.

Yes, just doing something different might be all it takes. Thanks, Bjorn!

That’s a good way to look at them. Then I don’t have to try getting rid of them. Thanks, Jane!

During my wage slave days, there were mornings when I felt all leaden-eyed and shit, but this prompt has brought out the hipster in all of us–and it is a joy to witness, hear, and feel.

Grooves becoming ruts. I remember telling my son on the way into a concert by a classic rock band that we would see a lot of people shaking their booties off… literally! Some ruts are worthwhile… they bring security with them. Some are just worn out grooves. But you can never go wrong shaking your booty!

All good points. Luckily those booties grow back. Thank you, Charley!

Thank you, Jilly! Even if the groove is a rut, I plan to enjoy it.

A rut is nothing more than a retired groove, I’m thinking! Sounds comfortable to me.

“Retired groove”! That’s a good way to think of it. Mine is comfortable.

May all our ruts be this good, Frank. I especially liked the line about the sun illuminating it.

I hope mine stay that way. Thank you!

Those grooves give us character! But in the sunshine they get a little too prominent! Good one Frank.

We all keep falling into them! They seem to claim us! Love this!

The ruts have claimed you as owner. Seeing as they appear harmless, I would just go with the flow!

The ones I have (that I’m aware of) seem pretty harmless. Thank you, Vivian!

You are right, sometimes the road we travel each day, does seem like a rut. But we take a breath, and continue, always ready for a surprise.

You call it a groove, while others call it a rut. It’s just perspective. Nice one!

It is just perspective which can pleasantly change. Thank you!

There are grooves that do not want to leave. You better try and be friends with them. You can always try to lure them into new ways.
