The Moon lets me stare at it unlike the Sun. I need a cooler face that doesn’t burn my eyes. I know little about the Moon, but that doesn’t matter.
I pass two cats along the boardwalk. They don’t mind me looking at them either and I know as little about them as I do about the Moon.
STRAY CATS ON THE PATH
WINTER–DOES IT BOTHER THEM
STORMS ARE COMING IN
Text: Linked to dVerse Haibun Monday hosted by Victoria C. Slotto with the theme “winter moon”.

I love the openness of the moon and the stray cats.. . there is acceptance between in that isn’t it?

They both seem to accept us. Thank you, Bjorn!

Enjoyed the inclusion of the cats, and the reminder of how little we really know about the moon or cats…though if we took the time to learn.

Using our empathy, we might be able to learn more. Thanks, Victoria!

I love the cats and the moon – knowing not much about either, although I think we will come closer to understanding the moon than to cats! I like the open feeling in this.

Thank you, Toni! I wanted an open feeling to be conveyed.

Well done. I like the moon and the cats, so different, being brought together in your prose portion.

Thank you! What surprised me about the cats is they didn’t run off when they saw me coming, nor did they come closer.

Great poem, Frank. I love the clouds in the top photo, very dramatic, it almost looks like a Turner painting.

The clouds seemed darker in the photo than just watching them which added to the drama. Thank you, Dale!

Very philosophical, Frank, in the best possible way. The moon and cats are all mysterious. Who knows what they’re thinking?

I like to think the Moon is thinking as well as those cats. Thanks, Jane!

Great connection with the cats and the moon. When I had cats, they tended to act all wonky when the moon was full.

The Moon goes through the magnetotail of the Earth for six days around a full Moon. There may be a good reason for the change in behavior. Thank you, Linda!

They would be. These cats are in Florida where it was 7o degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks, Grace!

I am glad you liked it, K’lee. I think you suggested even palm trees would be a good topic. However, my photos of palm trees didn’t seem good enough. Thank you!

Frank, do you think those stray cats every stop to look at the moon … or worry about storms. Maybe we should be stray cats!!

I think the cats let you stare at them and didn’t run away – feeling the winter they may have hoped for a warm home?

It was very warm there where we were in Florida. Some cats do run away. Thank you, Petru!

Two of my favourite things in one haibun – moon and cats. Maybe the moon enjoys being admired. Anyway, the sun is brash.

Words are deceptive things — they can trick us to think we know a thing just because we labeled it: a cat, the moon or even a storm. Fun thoughts.

your observation made me think why cats never howl at the moon. the moon does love to be admired, so let’s us stare with no punishment. in so few words you create a multitude of thoughts and questions.
