Snow wraps white.
Sky beams blue.
Winter’s night–
Calmly true.
Text: Linked to dVerse Meeting the Bar. I will be hosting and the theme is brevity with poems five lines or less. There are no other constraints. The pub opens at 3:00 PM EST.
Photos: “Sidewalk and Freshly Plowed Snow”, above, and “Winter Sunset”, below, linked to Frank Jansen’s Tuesday Photo Challenge with the theme “in my life”.
Best prompt ever, Frank.
This is gorgeous. I love the first line.

I enjoy the brevity challenge and I think you do too with your “snow wraps white” saying so much in three words. I imagine this will be a favorite prompt.

Ah the photo evokes your words of “calmly true.” I especially think, if we can happen outside right at the moment when the snow stops falling, and there are no plows or footsteps yet, that new fallen snow and a hush…absolute serenity and calm in that scene.

very nice, Frank….and very short. The winter’s sky is always so sharply blue.

Thank you, Jane! The sky can be so comforting and easily taken for granted which only gives us the opportunity to see it anew.

The cold can be very harsh. We got more snow than normal and the huge amount of white was impressive. Thank you, Rosemary!

that is such a pretty scene to look at, read about and also dream of, i like the the few words that convey much, you picked a very topic Frank, being economical with our words but conveying what we want to say as perfectly as we can. it also makes reading the 50 or more contributions a lot easier on these tired eyes. I am being so rude, ditching the family and catching up on reading during the Lunar New Year here, but the lure of D’Verse poets is too hard to resist! blessed weekend to you.
