Where to Look

Movement

Birds may chatter. I walk by.
Trees prepare to greet the Sun
That concentrates on shiny things
Like bonds held true with golden rings.
The birds rejoice when morning’s come.

Text: Linked to dVerse Poetics where Sarah Russell is asking us to focus on the thing rather than explicitly describing something abstract which the reader is supposed to guess, but I am not sure what it is myself.

Birds Minding Their Own Business

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. Loved this unusual expectation of spring. You captured the movements of the birds. They make everything look lighter and happier even vegetation chastised by the stern winter.

  2. It sounds like a comparison of the relationship of the birds to morning and a married couple. I like the shiny things and golden rings. Lots of birds and people like shiny things and golden rings

  3. I love all the photos of birds, Frank, and the reminder that spring is just around the corner in ‘Trees prepare to greet the Sun’. I was struck by the #shiny things / Like bonds held true with golden rings’. Could this be marriage?

  4. I love the photos.
What I get from your poem is that sometimes, we people, are oblivious to the beauty and miracles around us unlike the birds who celebrate each new day.
