Time incites the mystery.
Space makes ample room to see.
Breath absorbs it patiently–
Strong you stand and watch with me.
Should we fall or should we rise
Victory glows in our eyes.
Death, no matter how it tries,
Drops in time its thin disguise.

ah yes….what is the phrase? Death waits for no one? Our time always ends in death. We are mortal beings indeed.

Frank, I feel something quite mystical and beautiful in this poem, which is quite apt when it comes to writing about death. It is life’s greatest mystery. My daughter is reading Phillip Pullman’s “Clockwork”and the opening pages have some brilliant prose about time, which I think you’d really enjoy. I loved it.
I also thought you might find this flash I wrote interesting. It’s about a failed suicide attempt and somehow it’s had people in stitches. https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2018/03/07/a-stone-in-my-pocket-friday-fictioneers/?wref=tp
Best wishes,

What is the disguise death wears? I’m not sure? Like what you did.

It may be the one we have given it. I’m not sure what the lines really means. Thank you, Annell!

I don’t know; I don’t see death. I see a very sexy rhythm — like an invitation, or incantation. I think the speaker is Death … ready to have some fun.

It is meant to be an optimistic poem even with death referenced in it. Thank you, Maple!

Death drops it’s disguise. ..I like this. It reminds me that it waits around corners and pounces daily. A good tanaga.

Birth and death remain the biggest transitions we undergo, though both are not appreciated in the same manner.

I like your last two lines as well. Death drops it’s disguise. We get older and discover we’re no supermen
