Soul

Lake Michigan at Evanston

Some use their souls to say there is no soul. Some use their freedom claiming we’re machines denying what we know of mystery. It’s hard to tell which hell builds bigger walls to bar eternity.

There’s time to walk if we can’t run. There’s time for trees and standing still. Eternity comes passing through, patiently as sparrows do, singing pleasantly.

CHILLY EQUINOX
COMING COLD OR COMING SPRING
SPARROWS BRING NEW SOUND

Text: Linked to dVerse Open Link Night where Bjorn is hosting. I am late for dVerse Poetics where Paul was hosting, but I am using Paul’s theme of “soul”.

Lake Michigan From a Park

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. “It’s hard to tell which hell builds bigger walls to bar eternity.” It is hard to tell which is worse. The spiritual and political climate of this day is polarizing people to embrace absolutes, without question of value. You have a great truth, don’t know what could change it, 😦

  2. What a gorgeous haibun, Frank. Feels Biblical in the best of ways. We always doubt the soul’s existence but it is beyond us to really understand I think without faith. It is for me. And it is wasted energy to do so. Lovely, Frank.

Contrary to belief, eternity may not be permanent. Very true Frank. It is how one makes it so!
