Imaginary Friend

Sunlight and Sandstone

My imaginary friend knows where I am. I’m on a quest to find that idea that will turn life right-side up again. It could be a fool’s errand, but I have nothing else to do. So if you’re looking for me, you might as well stop. I don’t have the answer–yet. Find the answer and offer to share it with whomever wants to know. Then, perhaps, I will find you.

    1. I think it is that me, myself and I that get wondering whose real and who isn’t. I’ve only seen magpies in Colorado, but I hear they are similar to crows which are very smart birds. Thank you, Mary!

  1. this was a little tender for me, so creative to take a prompt on soul mates and title it imaginary friend. The concept of a (single) soul mate is tenuous and may just verge on the imaginary, but then we are on a quest to find even who each one of us might be, our won definition of self might also be a constant shifting fiction. Magpies are strong, fierce, beautiful scavenging omnivores, borrowing from every resource, rather than settling on one niche to survive, might not be a bad strategy when wounding out our souls, of mates or otherwise. this was so beautiful. Garden of the Gods, now its on my list, somehow. Thanks.

    1. Thank you, Lona! The Garden of the Gods is an unusual place and worth the trip to Colorado Springs. One can move from imaginary friend to soul mate easily. I like how you made the association.
