What a cure to trust when evenings fall
What ends is not the end of it at all.

This makes me think of the tonic my granddad took at the end of each day before going to bed.

That is an interesting idea. It may be like a tonic. Thank you, Kim!

What ends is not an end at all … that’s so true. I have always believed that we do not end, any experience, any moment, it is all part of a larger circle we may not be able to fathom but goes far beyond our need for endings and beginnings in our mortal frames.

I think what you say is true. There is more that’s good going on than we realize. Thank you!

I may not always be that positive but I tend to think we can surprise ourselves! I hope so! xo (thank you)

You are the wizard of tiny poems; much impressed. I have just gone through several weeks of insomnia, secondary to stress. Blessed sleep has been restored, but at my age, every night I may be facing the “big sleep”. Awakening is always such a joy.

Best wishes, Glenn, and I am glad you have been able to get the rest sleep provides. Awakening is a joy.

Nicely done Frank! Reminds me of my childhood prayer, “Now I lay me down to Sleep….”

I like the way the last line seems to stretch out due to the stressed syllables.

I didn’t notice that originally, but I think you are right. All those short, one-syllable words tend to stretch the line out. I will have to pay attention to that more consciously in the future. It could be a useful technique. Thanks for pointing that out, Ronnie!

No problem. Just noticed it, and thought it was interesting. 🙂

It was. I hadn’t noticed it before–although I do like using one-syllabic words.
