Frank, you have the most wondrous ability to say profound things in short verse! I admire that. The photo of the Japanese beetles made me gasp; destructive little buggers. Glad you joined in.

When I lived in South Carolina they were the bane of our existence in June. They swarm and exfoliate an entire tree or flowering shrub in short order.

For me, unseen monkeys are part of the pack of spirit guides that buzz about me, whispering prompts and edicts in my ear.

I like how open to interpretation your verses are. This one put me in mind of fairies at first, and then of all the scientific things we know and don’t know about the natural world.

One year they put traps in our trees for Japanese beetles, but I never saw one! Perhaps they were just a rumor. Or, perhaps they just preferred to go unseen.

Masterful. Concise. Beautiful. The world presses down on us, we try to use our big brains to push back, but none of our cleverness counts as much as being able to smile and lift each other. But then, you said all that already, and so much better. I love your stuff Frank.
