Forgiveness is a miracle that we
Might not deserve, but it comes anyway.
Before it comes we doubt and skeptically
Confuse forever with some years delay,
Or maybe decades, centuries–or days.
But when it comes we’re awed to feel it bring
The peace that lets us breathe, and breathing, sing.

Never a truer word said. Forgiveness is cathartic.

Ah, forgiveness – coveted and yet, sometimes hard won. Nicely expressed, Frank.

True forgiveness is miraculous, but often it is given lip service only. and that kind is hallow and false; we seem inundated by false prophets posing as politicians.

That’s true about politicians. We tend to give forgiveness lip service only. Thank you, Glenn!

But when it comes we’re awed to feel it bring
The peace that lets us breathe,
Forgiveness permeates many hearts even if just 2 persons are involved!

Frank, this completely touched me. Thank you for this contribution for #ForgivingFridays. It is such a demonstration of how peace can touch us as we forgive. I love these lines:
But when it comes we’re awed to feel it bring
The peace that lets us breathe, and breathing, sing.
And I also love how forgiveness may seem to take eons, or it could move inside of us in a split second. Thank you, Frank! Many blessings and have a beautiful Friday,
Debbie

Lovely piece Frank – I like how the rhymes hold the piece together while the rhythm and line lengths stretch as if waiting…(which I think is your point :-))

I was so wrapped up in your words of what forgiveness is and brings, that it is philosophical perfection. Poetic, too. Thank you, Frank, always. You bring a depth to what should be a simple issue but never seems to be so.

Thank you, Jane! Forgiveness can be difficult and we may not know how for years to give or receive it.

Hard to add anything other than that this is one of my favorites from you my friend, it is carefully crafted, seems to issue easily like a spring from the mountain, but we all now this is not easy, could have taken years or days or decades of percolating to complete, makes me curious. So well done. The picture is a perfect couplet with the poem. Forgiveness opens a window in brick walls of alienation letting us see the life that grows behind barriers. The recursive layering of windows is like looking through the years or decades or centuries , then that sweet miracle, and the singing 🎵🎶. Good use of form and meter to set and spring the trap of the unexpected miracle – the singing – which turns the whole tone. I forgive you for being so annoyingly lovely! 😉
(Jus kiddin, not annoying at all – jus right!) 💜

I didn’t realize those openings could be interpreted in that way. Somehow they seemed right, but I wasn’t sure why. I am sometimes worried the photos won’t fit. I am glad they did in spite of my initial doubts. Thank you, Lona!
