One-Liner Wednesday — Doors and Walls

The prison key of precious jade locked doors that duty finely made. Love arrived, revised the spell. The doors survived. The walls though fell.

  1. Oh God, this is incredible. It’s worthy of Hafiz, Frank. I love what you wrote about the walls falling and the door remaining – it’s like forgiveness is a gateway into higher awareness, kindness and freedom. I’ll share this on Friday.
Your photo is wonderful too. Perfect with the writing.

  2. I got a sense that the walls fell with love’s revision, the way was no longer blocked but the door remained…one needed to open the door and seek the absolution…whatever was intended Frank, it is a lovely poem

    1. Yes, that is along the lines I was thinking. There is value in that door made from “duty”. It is still there to be opened. Walls offer protection and imprisonment. I didn’t have much more than that in mind. A little vague, but hopefully suggesting something of value. Thank you, Dorianna!

  3. Hi Frank. At first read, I had to think of the reason of doors, walls. Reading the comments helped, and it completes the poem for me. Or gives me a deeper understanding. It is good to see a poem in other’s eyes. But it stands alone even without their comments. There’s mystery in the pieces of this poem to me, and that always makes one think. A very good one, Frank. I wasn’t thinking of forgiveness, or absolution, but I know that you have written about the difficulties of forgiveness before, so that draws me to it.

    1. I am glad you liked that twist at the end. It’s been a few days now since I wrote it and the twist seems to still work for me but I’m no longer sure of the intent. Thank you, Paul!
