Yuck is such a yucky word.
It closes every opened door.
It claims whatever’s true’s absurd
Demanding always something more.
Demanding something nicer, too,
Nicer than this yucky place.
Demands. Demands. What can one do
Stumbling over old and new,
Stumbling over smiling grace?

Oh but maybe you need the yucky to find the grace.

Well rendered, Frank! Yuck in a slightly different light — bringer of smiling grace.

I love this! It’s true that it “closes every open door.” It is important to avoid rash judgment and close-mindedness, which calling something “yucky” implies.

Saying something is yucky is a kind of close-mindedness worth avoiding. Thank you!

I enjoyed the poem, then got distracted by the last photo. What is that on the left side that looks like a horse’s behind? …and there’s something on the lower right, but I can’t make out what it is. Straighten me out, or I’ll be forever wondering!

I hadn’t noticed it until now. It does look like a horse now that you mention it. The next time I’m at the Botanic Garden I will have to look at it more closely. Thank you, Beverly!

Yuck has always sounded to me like feet being pulled from the mud – very smart, Frank!

Felt and sounded allegorical, and political to me; just my state of mind perhaps. It rates 4 nyuck-nyucks (ala Curly).

I suspect putting stickers on stuff like that is worth doing. Thank you, Dan!

You remind me that yuck can just be the outward expression of an ungrateful heart. Kind of like when I was a kid trying to get out of eating broccoli. At least it did give me the grace to accept broccoli, (but never okra). 😧

Good point about the ungrateful heart. Thank you, Mark!

You put the yuck into perspective. Sometimes we really need to do that.
