Yuck

Looking Down

Yuck is such a yucky word.
It closes every opened door.
It claims whatever’s true’s absurd
Demanding always something more.

Demanding something nicer, too,
Nicer than this yucky place.
Demands. Demands. What can one do
Stumbling over old and new,
Stumbling over smiling grace?

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. I enjoyed the poem, then got distracted by the last photo. What is that on the left side that looks like a horse’s behind? …and there’s something on the lower right, but I can’t make out what it is. Straighten me out, or I’ll be forever wondering!

    1. I hadn’t noticed it until now. It does look like a horse now that you mention it. The next time I’m at the Botanic Garden I will have to look at it more closely. Thank you, Beverly!

  2. You remind me that yuck can just be the outward expression of an ungrateful heart. Kind of like when I was a kid trying to get out of eating broccoli. At least it did give me the grace to accept broccoli, (but never okra). 😧
