Look and Feel of Gratitude

Final Colors for the Year
Fairy tales when left undone
May spoil in the morning Sun.
What was truly true last night
Weakens strangely with fresh light.
Does that matter anyway?
The morning brings another day.
Be grateful, praising spring and fall,
Those great among us and those small.

  1. Loved this post, the poem and both pictures! The pic below is a fairy tale landscape for me, while the one above emphasizes the bareness of the snowy seasons! Are both pictures yours?

    1. Yes, they are my photos taken with a phone of scenes I walk by almost every day on the way to the library. The seasons decorate them differently as the year changes. Thank you, Danik!

      1. I like it also as an incantation, a spell, it transforms the world to speak such magic. I vote Frank for chief wizard, or better yet, President (now please?). 🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Yes, this one spins like a nursery rhyme. You ain’t afraid of rhyming lines. You make it look effortless. When I try it it comes off as forced and weak.

  3. Nice framing on that photo – the burst of color from the leaves compliments the greens. You have such an excellent eye, Frank. I so enjoy your use of form; it reads like a proverb.

  4. One of the best thanksgiving (the real event that comes daily) poems I’ve read in a long, long time! It was so good I was able to overlook the snow in your photos and see the beauty of them… and give thanks. (No joking.)
