Autumn Storm Approaching 

Maple trees rest in the snow
Covered with their fallen leaves.
Winter’s wind will come and go,
But maple trees stand in the snow.
Their roots hold on. Let winter go
And have its way. Though some may grieve,
The maple trees wait in the snow
Covered calmly by their leaves.

  1. The calming words in this reflect the theme of patience – love that! As always, I enjoy your audio. (I am struggling a bit with putting in my sound cloud on the new version of WP – could only get the large version to post.)

    1. I take whatever code is in the “embed” option after clicking “share” on the SoundCloud site and then paste it using the “html” option of WP rather than the regular WP editor. Thank you for the prompt, Jilly! Repetition is often forgotten in poems.

Look, if you get tired of the patient maple trees in all that snow, c’mon down to Orlando. The Lyman’s will buy you dinner and you can show me how to fix this. 🙂

  2. Very nicely done, Frank, and so seasonal! I like the caesurae in the fifth and sixth lines – they came as a surprise and foreground the message in those lines beautifully!
