Cascade

Garden of the Gods

My mind begins the cascade’s fall
To water somewhere down below
When I say “Yes” before the “Why?”

I’ve only pieces of it all
Though more I have no need to know.
My mind begins the cascade’s fall.

I wonder where these journeys go
And what do birds see when they fly?
There’s water somewhere down below.

Beneath that water-wonder I
Might understand the cascade’s call
When I said “Yes” before the “Why?”

Incline at Manitou Spings. What looks like the top is just the beginning or so it seems when you get there.

    1. Yes, at the top is one view of Garden of the Gods and the bottom is the Manitou incline which I did climb once (but never again). I’d rather take the winding path that leads after many miles to Pikes Peak. Thank you, Lynn!

  1. I love the philosophy driving this. The put-in (to stick to river terms) is not asking the question, which one might usually think is the first step of a journey, but the “Yes” declaration. I dare say too, that this is a poem about faith. Great one, Frank.

  2. This is a wonderful post, Frank! I am particularly touched by the end — saying yes instead of why. I remember being at a training where we said “yes and” instead of “yes but”. It was a profound exercise.

I just did a #forgivingfridays post and included yours from March. I didn’t see one for April and wanted to make sure you were included!

    Blessings to you, Frank. 👃

PS – it’s totally fine if you prefer not to participate in the challenge. So no pressure at all. I just wanted others to receive the blessing of your writing again this month.
