Peace of Mind

Skokie Lagoons 
Ever mindful but of what and why?
Forever comes tomorrow. Hear the song?
I don't know all the lyrics but I'll try
To let it lead me home and sing along
And trust when I am weak that it stays strong.

There’s always something more that I could do.
There’s always some small dream to tarry through.
There’s always some old treasure I might find
In hidden memories. Were they all true
That mercy sang with kindness to my mind?

  6. Frank the first stanza reminds me my daoist studies and following the path, which runs along a river. You might not always see the river, but you can hear it through the trees. About the second stanza, without grace and mercy things can get very grim. Your dizain is lovely and wise.

  8. Literally a perfect dizain, with a clarion message and unobtrusive rhyme scheme. They would be crazy not to include this poem in the new dVerse upcoming forms book.

  17. Beautiful sentiments, beautifully stated. If you could find one more syllable in your first line, this would be a perfect dizain (and I could short-list it for possible inclusion in the anthology, it’s that good).

  19. What a beautiful poem, Frank. Your title is perfect–mindfulness is such a powerful method to bring peace to your mind. And, the last line, WOW. To me, it illustrates the grace of forgiveness that is kind to all of our thoughts, our dreams, and the other aspects of our human experience. Does this make sense?
