Just an Illusion

Reflections on J C Murphey Lake at Willow Slough
Voices telling me what’s true,
What they think that I should do
Are like illusions passing by,
Cloud reflections dropped from sky.
Water waves are mostly smooth
And sunshine sets about to soothe
Even they when wrong feel right,
Secrets sealed in full moonlight.

Linked to K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge with the theme “just an illusion”.

  1. I love the thought behind this, and most of all I loved the soothing rhythm of rhyme. It will always be poetry to me!

  2. I have been thinking this week about Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now”, the lines, “Love’s illusions I recall, Life’s illusions I recall,
Your poem fits this perfectly. What do we know of love and life? Very little!

  3. “Secrets sealed in full moonlight”
I especially like the oxymoron feel of this and the alliteration of “sunshine sets about to soothe”.
Beautiful and as always, the rhyme is so smooth.

  4. you’ve done it again Frank,
    Pure perfection!
    what questions
    perpetrate
    on reflection.
Just small ripples give the illusion away, or do they bring it to our eyes with more texture? We so ofter think we know what is right, in fact it is the operational center, we seem wired to know what we know, until we are humbled…
It is better to be glib than to perceive.
But for you Frank, you prefer the lessons that crawl with gorgeous energy from any splendid corner.
