Poppies

Gardens
Colorful when given light
Shadows turn away
Waking bravely from the night
Colorful when given light
Proof beyond the sense of sight
Like a rainbow’s sway
Colorful when given light
Shadows turn away

Linked to dVerse Poetics where Linda Lee Lyberg is hosting with the theme of “to be a flower”. I picked poppies at least that is what I think those brightly colored flowers are in the photos. The form of the poem is intended to be close to a triolet.

  1. Blood poppies like blood diamonds have tragic stories to tell. I always think of that scene in the WIZARD OF OZ when the gang is knocked out by the strong scent.

  2. Poppies were my mother’s favourite flower, Frank. I love to see poppies brightening up the roadsides and fields. You enhanced the idea of light with the repetition of ‘Shadows turn away’.

  3. Nice. Does the form have a name? (I’m collecting forms because I always think I’ll do a 30-day cycle with a new form every day. This will definitely for sure happen at some point.)
