From Winter to Spring or Dusk to Dawn

Winter
May the winter not last long.
I thought of spring while walking.
When there's music soon comes song
Melodiously talking.

I’ll look with hope to find you there
Smiling garlanded aware.

Linked to dVerse Open Link Night where Grace is hosting.

Next week I will be featuring final couplets: poems where the last two lines are a couplet like the one above.

Spring

Author: Frank Hubeny

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. Nice evocation Frank, I particularly liked the last line – ‘Smiling garlanded aware.’ – the extra syllable in ‘garlanded’ was like a brake in the line, so “aware” rang bell-like rather than just finishing.
Also liked the photo of the snow-drops.

  2. Pretty, Frank. It seems strange that you are still waiting for spring flowers. The winter was so mild here the summer flowers never stopped and the early spring flowers and blossom were over weeks ago.

    1. I am in southern Florida which is very warm year round. These pictures are all from past months/years in Illinois contrasting winter and spring. Thanks, Jane!
