The World In Lockdown

Beach Access Closed
On beaches blocked and empty
Oceans still will drum.
Seagulls once searched on this shore
For bread crumbs. They can find no more.
The sun turns slowly bright
To fix the morning with daylight
Discharging darker dreams of night.
The gulls arise and soar.

Linked to dVerse Quadrille. De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) is hosting with the word “fix”.

Linked to Cosmic Photo Challenge where Dale offers the theme of “The World In Lockdown”.

Also linked to Trent P. McDonald’s The Weekly Smile. I noticed this past week that the beaches are still closed, but the boardwalks are open. I do prefer walking on the boardwalks’ hard surfaces than on the soft sand, but the sand with bare feet washed by the waves is nice too. Things will change in ways I can’t imagine perhaps for the better and the thought of that makes me smile.

  1. Some of our parks and beaches are still close. I am sure the birds and the other wildlife creature are managing just fine without us. Mother nature is rolling along, not missing a beat.

    1. Being outdoors where there is warmth of sunlight, fresh air, and natures view, these are healing factors that lockdown takes away from us. I am thankful for the scientist and medical professionals who are trying to get these truths back into the public discourse. You don’t lockdown healthy people of any age, I’m 81, the healthiest person in my household of three adults, but denied a pass to go outdoors (not that I don’t go out anyway). But those who reveal the truth are being censored, that should serve as alarms to those who believe what has been coming done by those in authority, the majority having no knowledge of natural health practices. Just hope truth will continue to be revealed before more of us die in our incubator homes.

  2. I love the simplicity of this poem, Frank. “The sun turns slowly bright
To fix the morning with daylight
Discharging darker dreams of night” is a perfectly lovely line.

  3. Got to admit it’s the hills more than the beaches that I’m missing, so close but they may as well be on mars. The gulls seem to be doing well enough for themselves here though. Thanks for the poem

Only the sun is capable of doing something about it. And not that good either. Yes, Frank, things are bad!

  5. Here in Australia, they’re gradually taking away the tape from the playgrounds and the temporary fencing from the promenades and kiosks – and all our seagulls are looking very pleased to see us again.

  6. We have a very popular french fry truck located under our bridge to the U.S. The seagulls are so used to feeding off of fallen fries on the ground. Have to wonder what they’ll be thinking now as the truck is closed. Thank goodness for the drumming of the ocean….or in our case, the drumming of the lake.

  7. Smiles Frank Nature
    Surely Breathes Easier
    With Less Human Breath
    However All Of Our
    Domesticated
    Animals
    That We
    Even Eat
    Will Surely
    Suffer without
    Humans Spoons
    Feeding them too..
    Nature So Many Factors
Balancing Ups and Downs As Us…:)
