Dale offers the theme “in memory” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge which coincides with the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
I selected views of two graveyards.
The military graveyard is well maintained. The goat (or whatever it is) in the other one, off to the left side on the rocks, keeps the vegetation under control.
Quite a contrast, Frank

Striking contrast. I guess I go with the military. Not a fan of goats. 🙂
Welcome back.

I wonder about those goats as well. Thank you, Michael!

Wow! I have no words….except, we who are saved are kept by the Lamb!

We don’t have to worry about those goats. We are saved by the Lamb! Thank you, Mary!

I am definitely with the photo that includes the goat. The gravestones tell of individual lives (or at least family lives), all different, all ready to tell a story. The military stones just show rows and rows of identical stones, like soldiers in a row, sacrificed for ideas which might or might not stand the test of time. And the eeriest thought of all: standing there and preparing the ground for the next generation. (it kind of ties in with my cosphochal contribution today)

The graveyard with the goats was small, but I do prefer the individuality of the different markers as well. Thank you!

I have no idea what that animal is….
Where I live, there must be at least a dozen family graveyards that existed before all the development that has gone on here. You’ll be driving along and suddenly there’ll be an outcropping of headstones. There’s even one in the middle of a strip mall not far from here…

That is what happened with this graveyard. There are maybe twenty graves in it all surrounded now by a new housing development.

Stunning contrast, Frank. I think I might like being cared for by feeding a goat.

I like the goat as well. As Mary mentioned in her comment, we are kept by the Lamb. So the goat doesn’t bother me.
