Extract—Six Sentence Story

Timothy sensed he was talking himself into a corner without knowing how to extract himself except through silence.

He was getting the philosophy all wrong. He was getting the theology all wrong. He was getting the science all wrong.

In spite of all that, he was grateful no one actually complained while he talked to himself on the beach waiting for the sun to rise. When the sun came up, on time as always, he understood that the Lord still loved him in spite of everything and that had been an lot of messed up everything, but all was well again.

  1. I look at the picture and I can feel the cold air, smell the salt and the seaweed, and hear the gentle waves. It’s Dark, then not so dark, then a little grey, then color begins to crawl across the seascape. I love sunrises.

  2. It can get pretty busy inside our heads sometimes, lol. Castaneda used a term in his Don Juan series for silencing the conversations we have in our head, “stopping the internal dialogue”. Tricky thing to do but most effective. Sitting on a beach at sunrise certainly can accomplish the same thing. Without the clutter, we’re able to see and hear things more clearly.
