He Reigns—Ovi Poetry Challenge

Recall the words with kindness said
and yearn for those that you’ve once read
about the One Who rose, once dead,
Who reigns forevermore.

Ronovan Hesters offers “happy” as inspiration for this week’s Ovi Poetry Challenge. Also posted on Poet’s Corner.

    1. There may be more. I let the words come out (hopefully from the Holy Spirit) and then keep editing them.

I hear this “ovi” form as a variety of English common meter. That should make it great for the lyrics of hymns. I am glad you liked this. Blessings, Rebecca!

        1. If you would like to use these lyrics in a song, you are welcome to do so (that is, you are hereby freely given whatever “rights” you might need to do so) with my blessing.

                1. I’ll send you the other stanzas and chorus by email in perhaps a week’s time.

It occurred to me that I have no clue what to write for these stanzas, but then I had no clue what to write when that first stanza came either. With thanksgiving He gets the credit.

                  1. Reread your first stanza
                    Ask for inspiration,
                    The other 2 will come.
Then look at all three stanzas and see what connects them, a common theme, an idea just under the surface.
That’s your chorus. It can be in the same meter and the same rhyme scheme as your stanzas or it can be completely different. Once again, after you’ve looked at your stanzas and you know the parameters of your chorus, the words will just come.
