Forgiveness—Ovi Poetry Challenge

The easy way is not the way
that God would breathe through me today.
Those wicked ones so led astray—
may we forgive them all.

Ronovan Hester offers the inspiration “forgiveness” for this week’s Ovi Poetry Challenge. Also posted on Poet’s Corner.

Luke 23:33-34
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

    1. This is how I’d rewrite some of the lyrics to Hozier’s song:

      Take me to church.
I’ll worship like a son at the shrine of Your glory.
You’ve forgiven my sins. That’s the end of the story.
You’ve offered me a deathless life.
Oh, good God, let me give you my life.

Although I have to admit that dysfunctional human relationships, like the one Hozier seems to be in with that goddess demanding a sacrifice, can be full of manipulation teased on with lust.

Thank you and blessings, Willow! I never knew the lyrics to that song until I listened to your link and looked it up.

      1. Yes Frank I thought afterwards maybe I had made a mistake sending that clip. I often use Sam Ryder covers because he has such a great voice and is a truly nice person.
I agreed whole heartedly with what you said …. perhaps I should have just said Amen .
I am aware of the lyrics to Take me to Church and I should have thought more. Blessings to you this year. 💜
