“How did you get here?”
Oh, I don’t know.
“Everybody knows, so what’s your tale?”
Well, I pulled a few strings and played my cards right and some – no, many – many people got hurt.
“I see.”
I was the guy – no, one of the guys – who more or less literally gained the whole world not that it was very much looking back.

Denise offers the prompt word “card” to be used in this week’s Six Sentence Stories.
Mark 8:36 KJV – For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

We all find out sooner or later the whole world isn’t whole at all.

Very good point, Mary, about the whole world not being whole at all. Blessings to you!

Foolish to sell your soul for things that pass quickly and lose eternity. Thanks for those words.

Too many are deceived into “playing their cards right” by the father of lies. May we speak to the truth of the gospel of God while we yet have breath and rescue the perishing.

There is a large number, and growing, of those willing to lose/sell their soul for money and power.
An age old story, Frank. Good Six.

surely, this, unlimited selfishness is it’s own reward (and, ultimately, price to be paid by the individual)

You would think that the same error done over and over for 5,500 years, that the lesson would eventually sink in.

As a non-Christian, I don’t relate to the Biblical relevance of this, but I definitely feel that this has significance for everyone.
