If you feel like there’s an angel on one shoulder arguing with a devil on the other, that’s double mindedness.
The only reason the devil’s there is because he’s offering you something you want that you shouldn’t want. Command the devil to leave until he no longer wastes his time on you. You are then victorious.
The only reason the angel’s there is because God has not given up on you.

I believe it was Martin Luther who said if the devil will not yield to Scripture, to laugh at him because he can’t bear to be scorned. After all, evil wants to be taken seriously. When the temptation keeps coming back, I sing the children’s song, “I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!” and I put special emphasis on the verse, “And if the devil doesn’t like it he can sit on a tack. Ouch!”
It works every single time.
