It is amazing what a map can do to bring to life events in the Bible.
Today, David P. Barrett of Bible Mapper Atlas posted a map of the events of 2 Samuel 15-16 where David leaves Jerusalem after hearing that his son Absalom has been declared king in Hebron.
Below is the map from Bible Mapper Atlas detailing the events. The events are described in more detail on the site along with links to other maps.

Yes! I love looking at maps what le studying Scripture. I remember this from not too long ago. I’m all the way down to Psalms now.

Maps are amazing. They reinforce that these events actually happened. Blessings!

Thank you for this post, Frank. I find maps very helpful when studying the Bible as well. I am using this same site to follow Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary which went from Antioch in Syria up to the region of Galatia and back. The map at this site is a very good one and the Bible Study I am leading has been helped by viewing a map as we read along in the book of Acts (chapters 13 and 14).

It’s amazing how maps make things clear. I’ve always been upset about what Ziba did to Mephibosheth, betraying him like that.

A map does help hold the events together in one’s mind. Good point point about Ziba. Blessings, Mimi!

I confess I’m not good with maps…just can’t relate to them like others do. I prefer photos of where Bible folks lived, walked, fought, worshiped and heard from God, or spent time with Jesus–I can get a better feel for it all in pictures. Blessings to you, Brother!

Photos are also great. I recently read Joel Kramer’s “Where God Came Down”. It had beautiful photography. Blessings, Cale!

I was surprised to see his route away from Jerusalem was through the Mount of Olives, but looking at the map, that seems like the best route to take. Blessings, Dora!
