Celebration—Ovi Poetry Challenge

Since He’s the Lord you’re listening to
and not some demon fooling you,
forget what others say or do.
He is the only one.

They’ll question this and argue that.
It’s you, of course, they’re aiming at.
Your mind is not their new doormat.
Just celebrate the Lord.

Survival—Ovi Poetry Challenge

The Lord protects you. Have no fear.
His voice is faithful, true and clear.
His voice is all you need to hear
while walking by His side.

Be healed from every worry, woe.
Where Jesus leads there we will go.
When troubles think they’re winning know
His Spirit’s deep inside.

Rest—Ovi Poetry Challenge

Six days were all creation took
as Moses noted in his book
and then God rested. Stop and look
and see what He has done!

Who would have thought of it at all?
A universe! Then came the fall.
We messed things up, but do recall
He came and rescued us.

Song—Ovi Poetry Challenge

We used to sing a simple song
and both of us would sing along.
Though it was soft with lyrics strong
we sing that song no more.

Though other songs have come and gone
the songs that I still linger on
are soft and simple, deeply drawn
from one song long ago.

This poem now also appears on Spillwords.

I wrote this poem in the Ovi form after listening last Friday evening to Jimmy Webb‘s song MacArthur Park sung by Richard Harris before I knew this week’s inspiration word. I am thankful for all the songs.

Mine—Ovi Poetry Challenge

Repent, rejoice, revive, arise.
May love flow kindly from my eyes.
May tears turn into joyful cries
and with that joy new life.

Repent, rejoice, revive, arise.
The spirit lives and never dies.
The way’s the wonder of the wise
for they have hungered for it.

Repent, rejoice, revive, arise.
My hope* is Jesus crucified—
AND RESURRECTED. No more lies.
Through Him death was defeated.

Hungry—Ovi Poetry Challenge

Though troubles turn about until
wild worries dominate your will,
be hungry and you’ll have your fill.
Be still and know He’s God.

Victory—Ovi Poetry Challenge

No matter what the news may show
or what the mocking monsters throw,
go make your choice. Remember, though,
the Lord will always win.
