Thursday Doors: Upper Room Chapel

About a mile from where we now live is the Upper Room Chapel. This is one of the buildings remaining from the former Heritage USA.

In the evening of the second and fourth Saturdays of the month there is worship singing in the top floor followed by fellowship in the basement.

We went there last Saturday and I noticed the doors. Here are a few pictures of them.

______

The entrance door.
Doors to very small rooms. I heard there were healing services offered here in the past, but I don’t know what these tiny rooms were originally used for. I did hear from a friend after the service a story of a man with only weeks to live who agreed to go to the Upper Room for healing as a last resort. As he walked up the steps his pain left him and he knew he was healed before even entering the chapel.

We moved to Fort Mill, South Carolina, three years ago without knowing much about the place. It is now home. May our Father’s kingdom come and His will be done in the greater Charlotte area.

Thursday Doors: President James K. Polk’s Birthplace

Since the James K. Polk Site near Charlotte, North Carolina, is only four miles away and offers easy bike access to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, I go there often.

Here are photos of the doors on the early 1800s style buildings. These aren’t the original Polk family buildings, but they are representative buildings from the area.

There are also guided tours through the buildings and a museum.

The red stuff would have been clay from the Little Sugar Creek a few hundred feet away, but is now reinforced with a cement of some sort.

Thursday Doors: Sliding Glass Doors

Sliding glass doors are doors, but since you can see through them they are also windows.

So think of this as Thursday Windows.

These are pictures taken from where we are staying.

______

To the left are the doors. In the distance is Miami or close enough to it.
This is later in the same day but looking through the doors from the inside at the sunset
Or you could go outside on the balcony and get a picture without the doors.

Upstairs Downstairs

Below are pictures of doors (mostly door frames since the door is open) leading to the stairway.

The first two are from the fifth floor and last one from the parking area.

We are staying on the fifth floor.

______

The morning sun is on the door.
Going a little closer to the door you can better see it’s edge on the left.
This is the door at the bottom of the stairs.

Thursday Doors: Sunrise Door

While going to photograph a sunrise, I noticed a door on the beach.

It was small and perhaps not quite a “door”.

But I’m glad it was there to give me an excuse to post something.

______

Here’s the door, small with many hinges and locks
This is what I came to see, but I’m glad there was a door there as well.

Thursday Doors: Door on the Beach

The two images below show the opened door of a Miami Beach Lifeguard station at about 72nd Street on North Beach.

Admittedly it might be hard to see the door.

But it’s there.

______

A red flag signals high hazard. A purple flag signals dangerous marine life. A flag of any color blowing in the wind, like the two above, signals it’s windy.

Door in the Wall

I was planning to take some photos of a wooden wall to use as a backdrop upon which I could paste formatted Bible verses.

Once I got close to the wall, I realized there was a door in the wall and I had something I could also post to Thursday Doors.

The first photo shows what I was planning to photograph. The second photo shows the door. The third photo shows how I planned to use the first one.

Front Door—Thursday Doors

Below is a picture of our front door from two years ago.

We planted a colorful plant on a trellis that year. That’s the plant you see blocking the view of the door, but there is plenty of room to get by it.

The second year we moved the plant to the other side of the door and put a storm door on it as well.

Doors Along the Street—Thursday Doors

Although there are normal looking streets in Prague’s more modern areas, around the old town they are narrow with shops lining the mostly pedestrian paths.

Actually, I don’t know much about Prague. The reason I’m running my mouth is because I have to move the photos down on the page so they can be displayed better.
