Counting on Spring

Bright Blooms.jpg

We are perspectives on what’s real.
We’re the ones who see it.
Anticipating what we’ll feel
While wintery fears conceal it.

Although it isn’t spring here yet,
Our fresh, green dreams will grow
And should despair let us forget–
Bright blooms somewhere will show.

  1. Your lovely two stanzas perk up the east coast as it readies for yet another snow storm, with Spring officially only a week away. Exceptions rule, but should not dampen dreams.

  2. I lived for almost 5 years in a tropical climate, with no excitement to mark the advent of Spring. I longed for the change of seasons. Your poem captures the anticipation of Spring so well!

    1. I remember once living in Mexico for a winter season and realized it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit there all year round. I guess I could get used to it, but there is something nice about having seasonal changes.

  3. Love the rhythm of poem in bloom. And it’s perfect for me, right now… We are getting a lot of snow tomorrow–a blizzard, if the forecast is to be believed–but we can’t allow ourselves to forget that spring is almost here.

    1. Thanks, Olga! I was hoping to suggest that we do look at what is real. We aren’t looking at illusions, but we don’t see all of it, only our perspective. Sometimes people despair and there is truth and reality in that despair, but that isn’t all of reality.

  5. “Bright blooms somewhere will show.” Hope they will be in your eyes. 🙂
Interesting piece where hope can be despair.
    Enjoyed the reading.
Thank you for making me think.
