Leaving vengeance to the Lord
Helps me to forgive
And His mercy moving toward
Us helps us both to live.
Linked to dVerse Poetic Forms. I am hosting and the form is the quatrain, a four-lined poem or a poem containing stanzas of four lines each. Also linked to Debbie Roth’s Forgiving Fridays.

A beautiful theme on forgiveness. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you, Kerfe! I suspect we are likely to regret any vengeance we take.

It’s amazing how often “God’s vengeance” turns out to be extravagant mercy. Yes…leaving the vengeance up to God is a good idea, because we all deserve vengeance and have been blessed with grace! God bless!

Very good point! God’s vengeance is extravagant mercy. I hadn’t thought of it like that before. Thank you, Bryan!

Nice quatrain Frank. I try to forgive, but like Glenn said, somethings I will never forget.

Smart to put affirmations of love and forgiveness around you!

Nice message. I also like the notion that holding on to hate is like drinking a cup of poison so that your “enemy” dies. You may enjoy this recent chapter in the Myths of the Veritas that explores mercy and revenge. https://petersironwood.com/2019/06/26/tu-swifts-vengence/

Frank, what a lovely poem on the grace of letting go and letting God. My spiritual mentor has a great quote something like “To find the peace within, look for the good in all people and things and all the rest leave to God.” I love your presence on WordPress, you bring love to this community––and to Forgiving Fridays! Blessings to you, Frank.
I plan to do a post tomorrow morning, so I’ll share this then.
