Good Deeds

Green Water
It’s good that all those deeds I’ll never do
Won’t block me as I struggle to obey.
It’s good as well, though harder to accept,
That what I do get done’s forgiven, too.
That leaves the doing. May that ever stay
Removing clouds that darken sunny day.

Linked to dVerse Meeting the Bar. I will be hosting tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, with the topic of soliloquies. Think of them as talking to oneself while permitting the audience to overhear. I wrote this example of a soliloquy in iambic pentameter although any style would be acceptable for the prompt.

  1. i suppose a question is what is enough
and another question is simply What is…
Smiles after the 10th Day of the Flu it’s humbling
    to understand
    it’s all about Breathing..
    every breath worth Giving and
Sharing but of course best without dis ease..:)

  2. The iambic pentameter Is effective in this poem, Frank, which, although it rhymes, reads like natural speech. I like the caesura followed by enjambment in the rhyming couplet.

  3. That fourth line really struck a chord with me. I’m not sure I believe that everything we are going to do in life is already set out before us, but I find the idea that we are always exactly where we are supposed to be an intriguing one.
    You’ve got me thinking Frank.

  4. This is a perfect example for your prompt. It tickles me that you are so used to rhyming that blank verse morphed into couplets. I wrote a soliloquy from a play, or screenplay.

  5. Love the images and most especially those first two lines…which get me thinking. If we dwell on or ruminate on what we cannot get done……it seems to me that is the recipe for a very unhappy life. Do what we can…do what we do…smile while we do it!
Thanks for hosting, Frank. I enjoyed this prompt…I’ve been a bit hung up on writing about the aging process lately…but in a good way 🙂

  6. In Norwegian, there is this word, “veien til helvete er brolagt med gode forsetter.” That is; the way to hell is paved with good intentions. Truly, work matters. And, love shown diminishes many a mistake. At the same time, one cannot love if one is not a lovable person. And, one cannot love if one is not in love. So, constitution is what matters. Better off without it? 😊

  7. Simplicity. Focus. Saying “no” so we can be more effective… I suppose, a joyous heart helps lead the way. How many of us get grumpy and down-hearted? Obviously, a topic which could lead to a long conversation… Lovely photographs as well!

  8. The point is, as you … (point out. Is that correct to say?) suggest, that one may fail, and even so, will not come short. And, that beautiful spot on the photograph. It needs no cleaning. It needs no clearance. It is going along, feeling free. A picture of the Maiden, it can be, the muse in the artistic one. And those knights … Saving her, whatever cost.
