The up and down of beating drums are heard across the lake As falsehood twists the message and the drummers take no break. The solid door, self-righteousness, defends. It’s locked to win. Convinced that truth rests safe inside is where truth can’t get in.
Linked to dVerse Quadrille. Mish is hosting with the word “drum”.

What a great paradox at the end.

Powerful statement. I try to be open to others’ truths than self-righteous…challenges my mind and my heart.

In a lifetime, we are fortunate if we improve our listening and communicative skills.
I was in my 40’s before I figured it out.

Reminds me of Andrew Shank’s description of truth as openness (but then I’ve spent too much time around heavy text books recently). You put it far better. Thanks for the challange

Hard to believe others can learn the same truths we’ve learned by a different pathway. If the world would accept this..so many fewer holy wars waged to prove we are right!

This seems very symbolic and so apt for the twisters of truth and I love the ending as it seems so hard for some to open up to the hurst of others.

Like others, in times like these, this is right on the money – concise, punchy and to the point. Bravo Frank.

Unfortunately the problem with truth and falsehood is that they can never be isolated from each other.

I really enjoyed this piece. The photo you use is perfect. Symbolism of 2 trees – one leaved, the other not. Each with limb reaching toward the other yet not touching. And of course, the empty bench. Excellent!
