Sunday Walk 11

Tennessee

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version

Below is Kate Smith singing Irving Berlin’s God Bless America.

Peter Warren sang some verses from this song at the end of his guest sermon at Calvary Chapel Miami Beach on September 13th, “The Battle Behind the Battle”. He is the author of When the Shooting Stops: Where is God When We Suffer?

And here is a link to Crystal Grimes’ song, “Blessings Be Upon You”, based on Numbers 6:24-26.

I am a registered Democrat in Miami Beach, Florida. I voted for the President, Donald Trump, and I predict he will win on November 3rd. Then I predict he, along with the help of others, will drain this swamp.

I am grateful that the Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court with a vote of 52 to 48.

I enjoy walking, poetry and short prose as well as taking pictures with my phone.

  1. Frank, I’m over here from Dawn’s blog (Change is Hard). Thank you for your wise words there — and here. I try not to engage people in their political viewpoints (some are just so nasty these days!), so maybe it takes a rational voice to point out that we’re all God’s family and we need to work together to solve our issues. By the way, I’ve been to Northbrook!!

    1. We have been in Northbrook for about fifteen years. I like being able to walk to the forest preserves.

I have not been political (nor specifically religious) in what I wrote up until a few (6?) months ago, but I now see a lot at stake in this election. I wish I had been aware of it earlier.

  2. Not confirming Justice Barrett to the Supreme Court would be a travesty. She’s the most impressive candidate I’ve seen for the Court. She handled the Senators from both sides remarkably well, and her answers were outstanding.

  3. Thanks for your help and encouragement as we head into the Election–got my mail-in ballot yesterday and will vote with confidence that God is Sovereign, whether or not our mutual choice prevails (I’m in agreement with you). PS: I agree with John Holton re Justice Barrett too.
