45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.

Bloodthirsty…….Halloween’s over Frank.

It is hardly bloodthirsty, more like self-defense against a strong enemy that led to a miraculous upset. Thank you for the comment, Arthur!

I’m more a Martin Luther King/Mahatma Gandi passive resistance kind of guy. Not always successful of course but the Old Testament is a bit violent for my taste!

Abortion today is also violent, can you imagine the pain the little ones feel.

I noticed Myrna’s comment and so I have to ask you, Arthur, because I am now wondering: Do you support abortion?

I support the woman’s right to chose Frank. That is a position I have held for 50 years. I know it is a very emotive and devisive question.

Then I would claim you support bloodthirsty violence. Halloween is over, Arthur.

Lately within the last two or three months, I have been drawn to the Old Testament stories, and knowing God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow I notice He, God allows His enemies to have a little of what they desire before He
allows their destruction.

Very good points, Myrna. God is the same in the Old and New Testaments and He allows His enemies to have a little of what they desire before their destruction.

Reminds me of the song the battle belongs to the Lord! I grew up in a church that read from Genesis to Revelations verse by verse, not discounting a single book as less important. Even Numbers which is hard to understand just in a read. All is the Word of God, and truth!

That is a good plan. I’ve listened to David Pawson’s YouTube video series “Unlocking the Bible” a couple of times as a guide to reading through each book without skipping any.
