Steven woke from his misadventures in the caverns of Blislisnis lying on the ground by the tents of the homeless where the Caverns Valet Service sometimes parked people who were still alive. After regaining consciousness he asked a man sitting nearby how he got there.
“You must have called upon the name of the Lord,” the man answered, “but they told me to tell you they got tired of feeding you like a dog.”
Steven noticed that his wallet and keys were missing and his phone was smashed.
“Don’t go back to those caverns, son,” the man said.
Steven left the man walking in a direction that seemed as good as any to reach home if he would only persist this time in going there.

Denise offers the word “valet” to be used in this week’s Six Sentence Stories. Steven’s story continues from last week. It will be completed next week.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I detect a Prov 26:11 warning here “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.”

I hadn’t thought of that verse from Proverbs, but it definitely applies to Steven. May he learn his lesson and not return to his folly. Thank you, Mary!

This is instructive: “Steven left the man walking in a direction that seemed as good as any to reach home if he would only persist this time in going there.”
Looking forward to the conclusion next week.

“…parked people”…happens more often than we dare to admit.

I had already written this story before I found out what the prompt word would be. It took a while to figure out how to squeeze it into the story. Thank you, Nick!

What are the other options he has?

He could go back to the caverns (even after he gets home). It would be foolish to do that, but our characters get solidified though our habitual bodily behaviors. Thank you, Reena!

to paraphrase the old saying about success, “..and the other 10 percent is persistence.”

Without that bit of persistence he won’t get home. Thank you, Clark!

That was one of my favorite poems. I will be back next week. I have the story written already. I am just waiting to see how I will have to change it to fit in the prompt word that Denise comes up with.

Sometimes it takes a long time to learn, but blessed are they who do.

That’s right. Blessed are those who do learn no matter how long it takes. Thank you, Mimi!

Steven got some good advice. Right direction. One step at a time.

Perhaps he’s finally had enough and will persist in his journey home.

He will get back home this time, but he’s young and not that bright and there will likely be another day when he thinks he can survive the pleasures of those caverns. Thank you!

Steven just needs to keep his mind on his goal, and he should get home alright.

He definitely needs to focus. Thank you, Nicole!
